Doug had been drinking his favorite beer all day and watching television in his ground floor apartment. Around 9:30 pm, Doug heard noise outside that make is difficult to hear the sound on the TV. He looked out the window and saw a party in progress on the lawn. Doug yelled at the partiers to be quiet and threw an empty beer bottle at them. The bottle hit Daisy in the leg. Daisy’s boyfriend, Tom, ran to Doug’s apartment, broke down the door, and menacingly approached Doug, vigorously shaking his fist. Doug reached into a drawer, removed a pistol, and shot Tom in the chest, killing Tom immediately. 1. What crime will Doug be charged with? What are the elements of the crime?
