Procurement Routes

You are required to advise your clients on appropriate procurement routes for the following projects.

1.  A private developer has purchased the land and is now interested in the construction of a new 10 storey office block in Cardiff city centre value £20 million.

2. A new Morrisons for the town of Mumbles. It is to have a total floor area of 3400 m2 of which 2000 m2 will be sales area. Morrisons wish the store to comply with their corporate image and to be open by September of 2018.

3.The construction of a new private hospital in Swansea SA1 .There will be 3 operating theatres, 10 consulting rooms, High dependency unit, and 20 beds. This will replace the existing private hospital in the Uplands area of Swansea.

4.A new hotel complex/retail units in SA1. The project is to be privately financed by a merchant bank which has set a firm cost limit for the project.

5.Upgrading the ‘Small world’ theatre in Cardigan town centre. The theatre is run by a group of volunteers who control the Theatre through a company limited by guarantee. This means that they might be liable for any losses the Theatre makes. The extent of the works is to refurbish the stage, provide disabled toilet facilities and access and install a new kitchen that meets current hygiene standards and is suitable to be run as a commercial venture.

6. INA Bearings require a new 5,000 m² factory to be located near their distribution centre in Llanelli, South Wales due to a new business venture. It is to be opened as soon as practicable.

7. Following a recent fire at Bluestone Holiday Park, the leisure center and pool need to be completed before May 2018 ready for high season.

8.The extension and widening of the A4570 road through South Wales. £30 million.

9. Oakwood Park require a new roller coaster and virtual reality ride to be installed in the park, it has to be faster and scarier than all other rides, currently in operation. This has to be installed by October 2018.

10.  The City and County of Swansea wish to provide a new 300m2 science block for Bishopston Comprehensive School, including demolition of an existing science block (which includes asbestos in the flooring).
