Part 1, BOOK CRITIQUES: After reading and annotating the book you selected for the Signature or final assignment in this class, compose a critique of the book following the instructions below.

Source information should be cited in MLA format and listed at the end of the critique on a Works Cited page in MLA format and (in-text citations) must also note all paraphrases and quotes used in the essay (Refer to Syllabus, pg. 4-5, “Steps to Avoiding Plagiarism).

Book Critique Sub-Headings and Organization
1.​State the thesis or main lessons of the book in your own words. Include major subjects and lessons of the book in your summaries as fairly, objectively and carefully as you can, ensuring summaries don’t leave any major points out. Include sub-points of thesis or reasons supporting thesis.
2.​Describe 5 – 10 key examples the author uses to support his/her thesis and explain how the author connects the examples to his/her main and sub-points.
3.​Regardless of interest or personal opinion factors, did the author make a solid case? Did he ignore counterexamples? Were there other flaws such as hasty generalizations, etc. OR, describe flaws in a system or professionals the author brings to light. Explain your answer. OR, compare and contrast the strengths and weaknesses of the book in terms of plot or organization, examples, or any other content aspects. Then, finally, would you recommend this book to others? How many stars?
4.​ List any questions you’re left with after reading the book. Choose the most inspiring ones to guide you in acquiring at least 2 more secondary sources for the Lit/Crit Analysis Essay.
