Theories and Worldview Assignment Instructions
This assignment provides an opportunity for you to examine developmental theories in light of foundational beliefs/worldview.
Before completing this assignment, be sure you have watched the Overview of Developmental Theories presentation found in the Module/Week 1 Reading & Study folder and reviewed the developmental theories and theorists from your assigned textbook readings.
• PowerPoint: This version includes interactive feedback to help guide users to correct answers (unfortunately, this version will not work on a Macintosh computer).
• MS Word document: Very simple to use, but provides no interactive feedback. Use this version if you are a Mac user or if you encounter any technical difficulties with the PowerPoint version.
Ten theories or theoretical perspectives will be examined. For each one you will:
• Answer 3 questions by selecting the appropriate response from listed options.
• Provide a quote from our textbook describing an important feature of the theory. Be sure to include quotation marks and a citation in current APA format*.
• Provide a properly formatted reference entry for our textbook**. Note that text formatting is not available in presentation mode, so you will not be able to italicize your book title.
*Example of an APA formatted quote and citation from our textbook:
“Memory is defined as the retention of information over a period of time” (Cashion, Shriner, Shriner & Mossler, 2016, p. 108). Subsequent citations should read (Cashion et al., 2016).
**Example of an APA formatted reference entry for our textbook:
Cashion, V., Shriner, B., Shriner, M., & Mossler, R. A. (2016). Lifespan 360: Christian perspectives on human development (V. Cashion, Ed.). Dubuque, IA: Kendall Hunt.
On the final slide of the presentation, choose 1 theory and tell why it is or is not compatible with your worldview. Do not include direct quotes from our textbook; you may quote Scripture but your word count must be at least 250 words in addition to any Scripture you include. When you have completed the presentation, save and upload your file to the submission link in Blackboard.
