The purpose of this assignment is for you to review what determines people’s travel abilities and their
expectations, desires, and experiences in tourism.
After reviewing Module 4’s PowerPoints, complete the following questions (Provide thoughtful and well-
organized answers with sources to support your assertions).
1) Seasonality is an important consideration in most destinations, as most places have seasonal
variations in tourism demand. How has seasonality affected your own travel experiences in the
past? Have any of the institutional and/or natural forces of seasonality affected your travels?
Please explain using appropriate terminology (from the PPTs, etc)
2) Do a little online research—find an example of a destination anywhere in the world (not an
individual business, but rather a destination) that has tried to overcome the negative effects of
low season. What did the destination management people do specifically to offset low
seasonality? Was it successful? (Use 150-300 words for this question, and be sure to cite your
sources)
3) More research needed! What are the main constraints to travel for most young people (under
30 years old)? List at least three and elaborate on them. (Use 75-150 words for this question,
and be sure to cite your sources)
