MODELS & THEORIES OF NURSING PRACTICE

The purpose of this assignment is to provide students with the opportunity to (a) demonstrate their knowledge of contemporary nursing knowledge related to Nursing Models and Theories. It is expected that correct APA citation and reference formatting will be used for this discussion board.

Please use headings for the three (3) sections of this assignment outlined below.  Review the instructions, the grading rubric for the assignment, and relevant content in the text.

2. The reading content for this assignment is based from: Fawcett, J. & DeSanto-Madeya, S. (2013). Contemporary nursing knowledge: Analysis and evaluation of nursing models and theories (3^rd ed.). Philadelphia: F. A. Davis Company.
3. Read Chapters 1 and 2 of Fawcett & DeSanto-Madeya. Chapter 1 introduces conceptual models of nursing and nursing theories and Chapter 2 discusses strategies to implement conceptual models of nursing and nursing theories into practice.
4. Nursing theory: Orlando. The introduction pages for the theory, which contains a brief description and the key terms of the identified theory. The attachments are intended to provide the student with a brief overview to the each of the nursing theories.
5. Literature Search:

After the selection of the specific theory of nursing conduct a review of the scholarly literature related to this specific model/theory to obtain detailed information about the model/theory.

1. Using the results of the readings and literature research, prepare a discussion board post that addresses the items below. As this is a discussion of your personal nursing philosophy, you may write this discussion board in first person.
   1. Selected Conceptual Model: Select Nursing Theory: Select one theory of nursing and briefly describe the theory using citations in text and listing references at the bottom. A minimum of three references are required.

1. 1. 1. Describe Why Foundation:  Describe why the selected theory serves as a foundation for your personal philosophy of nursing.  Please limit your discussion to work-related and/or professional content.
      2. Critically Analyze:  Critically analyze how the selected model/theory impacts your clinical practice on a day-to-day basis. Provide one to two (1-2) specific examples.

Please note: Clinical examples should be of Clinical Observation Floor or Critical care floor (not operation floor, Mother& Baby, L&D, or Emergency Department)
