In doctoral-level psychology, per the APA Guidelines for Education and Training in Psychological Assessment in Health Service Psychology(2020), the following are domains for establishing competency in training for doctoral-level assessment:
• Domain A: Theory
• Domain B: Psychological assessment process
• Domain C: Psychometrics
• Domain D: Tests and methods
• Domain E: Ethics, legal issues, and professionalism
• Domain F: Diversity
• Domain G: Supervision
In this assignment, doctoral-level learners will analyze the robust statistical properties, normative data, any associated theories behind the development of a measure, and ethical and legal heuristics in their application and contextualize facets of standards of practice, such as incorporating a lens of diversity in the interpretation of measures.
Please critically review from a practitioner–scholar perspective of practice one of the major intellectual or cognitive assessments and one of the major objective personality assessments covered in this course. Your paper should address the following areas:

  1. How are these measures used by doctoral-level psychologists in the field and to assess dimensions, domains, or perspectives in clinical work?
  2. What are the statistical properties for these measures? Please discuss issues of reliability, validity, and statistical robustness of the measures, as applicable.
  3. What are pragmatic issues of practice to consider regarding the use of these assessments (e.g., ease of administration of the tools, educational considerations for the patient, potential measurement error, how the measures are interpreted and scored, and so on)?
  4. What does the research literature indicate about normative considerations with these measures? How recent are the norms for the measures that are available?
  5. What are some legal and ethical considerations in the use and interpretation of these measures for purposes of assessment reports?
  6. What cultural considerations should be reviewed with regard to the use of these measures?
  7. As a future doctoral-level practitioner, how do you hope to utilize experiences in supervision to avoid competency bias in assessment?
