- Create and layout the first PivotTable.
- A PivotTable should be based on the workbook data model to use more than one query or table.
- Define relationships between tables when required.
- Click the PivotTable Name box [PivotTable Analyze tab, PivotTable group].
- Type a descriptive name for the PivotTable.
- PivotTables are named PivotTable1, PivotTable2, and so on by default.
- Insert or select a new sheet in the workbook.
- The dashboard is typically placed as the first sheet.
- Name the sheet as desired to signal that it is the dashboard.
- Click a cell in the PivotTable and click the Move PivotTable button [PivotTable Analyze tab, Actions group].
- The Move PivotTable dialog box opens.
- Select Existing Worksheet to use the new dashboard sheet.
- You can create a new sheet in this step if needed.
- Click the Location box and delete the default entry.
- Click the dashboard tab name and select a destination cell (Figure 10-46).
- You can start in any row or column but usually not the first few rows or columns.
- Leave space for a main header section.
- You can move PivotTables later as you develop the dashboard.
- Click OK. The PivotTable is moved to the dashboard worksheet.
- Click a cell in the PivotTable on the dashboard and click the Select button [PivotTable Analyze tab, Actions group].
- Choose Entire PivotTable from the context menu.
- You can also select all cells in the PivotTable.
- Press Ctrl+C to copy the PivotTable.
- Select a destination cell on the dashboard and press Ctrl+V to paste.
- The PivotTable is a duplicate of the first PivotTable.
- Press Esc to remove the border and click a cell in the copied PivotTable.
- Display the PivotTable Fields pane if necessary [PivotTable Analyze tab, Show group].
- Add and position fields in the second PivotTable (Figure 10-47).
- Click the PivotTable Name box [PivotTable Analyze tab, PivotTable group] and type a descriptive name for the copied PivotTable.
- Supply a name that describes the emphasis in the PivotTable.
- Repeat the steps to copy and design as many PivotTables as needed.
