Scenario As a senior social work assistant, you are preparing your application for secondment to train as a social worker. You have been asked to write a Report on how holistic support is underpinned by principles and values.

Task 1 P1 Report

Choose two individuals who use social services, prepare a report to explain how relevant principles and values will enable you (as health care professional) to provide holistic support for your two chosen individuals.

Guidelines (P1):

Task 2 M1 Report
Extend your Report to include a review of the benefits to the individual, and also to the staff involved in delivery of the care, of taking a holistic approach to planning.
Task 3 (D1) Report
Extend your report to include analysis of the reasons for working with professionals from more than one agency when planning support for individuals (D1).
Guidelines (D1):
To achieve D1, you will need to consider at least three (3) reasons for taking a multi- agency approach to planning support, analysing each one and justifying the explanation.

Guidelines (P2):
To achieve P2 you will need to clearly identify the processes and assessment tools, from the list below that would be involved. Include a range of assessment tools stating how and when they would be used in each case. Based on a specific social care service, e.g. your placement, identify two legislation, two codes of practice and three policies and explain how each could be applied to planning support for your individuals who are using the service.
Guidelines (P3):
To achieve P3 you will need to provide an explanation of the way in which legislation, policy and code of practice (from the list below), should be applied when planning support. You must demonstrate your understanding of how support plans must adhere to the relevant legislation, policies and codes of practice. You should make reference to the way they are constructed to ensure that delivery of service adheres to them.

Explain why an ethical approach may cause a dilemma for health and social care workers in two different settings when planning and providing support to service users. (P5).

Guidance for P5:
Produce a booklet and include examples of scenarios of an ethical dilemma within a health and social care setting and explain why this may provide staff with a dilemma when planning and providing support.
For example you might want to consider the issues that may arise such as potential conflicts, conflict of interest between individuals and organisation, individual and relatives and groups of users of services, balancing services and resources, choices, harm minimisation and choice with regard to support regimes.

Task 4 M3 (Report)

Referring to your explanation above produce a essay that justify how an ethical approach to providing support would benefit individuals and explain what might be improved because of this approach.
Guidelines (M3)
To achieve M3, you need to think about how an ethical approach would improve the support and services received by each of the individuals you describe in the first part of the question
For example you will need to explain how the rights responsibilities and duties of health and social care professionals, balancing services and resources, and conflict of interest may benefit individuals.
