Question 1:Leading perspectives of leadership within hierarchical levels and situations.

Assessment Task: (Total – 50 marks)

Choose an organisation you are interested to work for after graduating from OPAIC, and discuss the effectiveness of its leadership approach, and use of the sources of power by leader(s) in the organisation. Limit your discussion of leadership to one specific level of management [i.e. discuss appropriate leadership style at one specific management levels (lower, middle or upper)]. (approx. – 1200 words)

Your discussion/ analysis should cover

1.      The style of leadership related to that perspectives – Assess the leadership approaches adopted in your selected organisation from the various leadership models you have studied. Which of the styles of leadership are evident for your selected organisation? You must use appropriate secondary evidence sources to support your discussion. (15 marks)

2.      Effectiveness leadership perspectives – from secondary sources of information assess whether the leadership approach (approaches) in your selected organisation is appropriate and relevant for the organisation. Do you think that the approach adopted is appropriate or not appropriate? Justify your answer.    (20 marks)

3.      The use the sources of power in the organisation at each level – identify and discuss the sources of power for the leaders in your selected organisations. Are the sources of power relevant and effective for managing and leading staff in your selected organisation? Justify your answer.   (15 marks)

Question 2: Approaches to leadership relevant within diverse culture.

Assessment Task: (Total – 50 marks)

Discuss how does cultural (and or diversity) issues/ differences affects leadership approaches adopted by the organisation. You may discuss the values/ benefits of considering the identified cultural diversity issues. (You may use the same organisation used in question 1) (approx. – 1200 words)

Your discussion/ analysis should cover

  •  Investigate and discuss cultural differences on both people and organisation. (15 marks)
  •  Identify& discuss of three cultural (and or diversity) issues on both people and organisation.
  •  Discuss how does cultural (and or diversity) issues/ differences affects leadership approaches (20 marks)
  •  Discuss changes required in leadership practices resulting when adopting the three cultural /diversity policies.
  •  Discuss the valuesand/ benefits of considering the identified cultural diversity issuesof the organisation. (15 marks)
  •  Discusses the benefits and/ or challenges for incorporating cultural/ diversity policies for the organisation
