[Student Learning Outcomes 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4, 7.5]
File needed: Challenge-07.xltx (Student data files are available in the Library of your SIMnet account.)
Completed Project File Names: [your initials] Excel 7-8Template.xltx and [your initials] Excel 7-8.xlsx
Open the Challenge-07 workbook from your student data files and save it as a template named [your initials] Excel 7-8Template in the Custom Office Templates folder. Modify your workbook according to the following guidelines:
- Select the Lists sheet. Use a search engine of your choice to find the county name and enter it on the sheet. Do this for each city name. All cities are in Minnesota.
- Format the date column on the Adoptions sheet to use the Short Date format.
- Build a custom format for the “Animal ID” column to display five digits for all IDs. Change the ID in cell B5 to 12; this is sample data to verify your work.
- Create an XLOOKUP formula for the “Name” column to display the pet’s name.
- Use XLOOKUP to display the “Species.”
- Set list data validation for the “City” column to use city names on the Lists worksheet without input or error messages.
- Build an XLOOKUP formula for the “Zip” and “County” columns.
- Copy all formulas. #NA appears in rows with no data.
- Insert two option button controls inside the group box. Type labels that indicate two locations, such as First Street and Park Road, or Downtown and Uptown. Format both buttons as unchecked and align them.
- Unlock cells and controls that require data entry.
- Delete the sample data and protect the Adoptions sheet.
- Save and close the template.
- Create a workbook from your template and name it [your initials] Excel 7-8
- Review the Animals sheet and note the existing IDs. Return to the Adoptions sheet and enter data for two adoptions; choose animals and create client names and addresses.
- Save and close the workbook. Move the template to your usual folder if instructed to do so.
