Leadership in Education

• Case Study (Signature Assignment) Students will be required to write a research paper that addresses a case study approach to develop a plan of action for change.
• Cases are designed to reflect issues that a teacher leader might encounter in the Inland and Coachella Valleys. Cases will cover teacher leadership standards and guided by research.
• Case studies are stories that are used as a teaching tool to show the application of a theory or concept to real situations. Dependent on the goal they are meant to fulfill, cases can be fact-driven and deductive where there is a correct answer, or they can be context driven where multiple solutions are possible.

Individual Case Study Signature Assignment

• Case Study Examples:
  1) Key factors leading to high teacher turnover.
  2) Restorative practices in k-12 education.
  3) Effective strategies in motivating students in this post-Covid educational era.
  4) Discrepancies in gender representation in school site leadership positions.
  5) Discrepancies in diversity representation in school site leadership positions.
  6) Inequitable grading practices in schools and their consequences.
  7) Dual Immersions program effectiveness and impact.
  8) Lack of diverse male student participation in advanced courses (AP, Hons, Leadership).
  9) SES and low-test scores (Benchmark testing, AP, CAASPP); what can be done?
• Student will research & write a five-page case-study. (Using minimally 4 academic research resources and cite them in the proper in APA Format).
• (12 fonts, double spaced, one-inch margins, cover page/ bibliography
  PLUS 5 written pages)!
